England have won their 2015 Rugby World Cup opener against Fiji by 35 points to 11.
As expected, it was a hard-fought affair, but two Mike Brown tries, one from Billy Vunipola
and a penalty try gave England a vital opening win.
Much of the talk before the game was about England needing to score four tries to get a
crucial bonus point, and it was Vunipola who was on hand in the 100th minute of the
match to score it.
It’s England best ever win in the opening match of a World Cup since 2003, and while they
weren’t at their best, we can all look forward to seeing the boys take on Wales and
Australia
in their next two games.
Here are some of the best pictures from the opener:
Some England fans turned up in traditional dress…

As did the Fijian ones…

Twickenham was a spectacle during the opening ceremony

It featured a chorus of children and a giant rugby ball, naturally
Talk about atmosphere…

The anthems were emotional

And it all became a bit too much for Nemani Nadolo…
But he was terrorising England soon after…

Mike Brown was passion personified after scoring England’s second try

Fiji winger Matawalu thought he’d scored a wonder-try, but dropped it at the last second

The giant Nadolo did get a try himself…

Brown got England’s third try after a nervous second-half period

Vunipola got the vital fourth try with the last play of the game…

Just about!

Congratulations England!
